William (Danny) Daniels
William Daniels known as Danny sometime Bill joined the army April 1966 in my home town of Bolton Lancashire.Went to Sutton Coldfield St George's barracks for my basic training, because my brother had served with the LFs in India I knew I was going to be posted to 1LF,only 3 of us made it to the LFs from that intake. After basic I joined 1LF at Weeton and joined D Coy, I was then very lucky indeed to go to Jamaica as part of a exchange visit with the Jamaican Defence Force. In October of 1967 the Bn moved to Hong Kong the sad part about Hong Kong was 23rd of April 1968 when they tried to consign us to history. While in Hong Kong we were sent to Malaysia for jungle warfare training , in 1969 I went to Korea as part of the United Nations Honour Guard. On returning to England in 1969 I was posted to 2RRF at Watchet Somerset at the end of 1969 we moved to Berlin were we did border patrols and guard duty including Spandau prison to look after Rudolf Hess.We left Berlin in 1971 for Catterick Camp, October 1971 I went to Belfast Northern Ireland the first tour ended in February 1972.
