Anti Tank Officer: “This is Cpl Ryder who commands my No 1 gun, Sir.
He had some good news in the early hours when his wife presented him
with a new baby back home in Kowloon.”
Commander-in-Chief: "Congratulations, Cpl Ryder. Flying you back are
they?”
Cpl Ryder: “Well, I hope they’re not expecting me to swim, Sir.”
Peals of laughter from from the Commander-in-Chief and Anti Tank
Officer, dark scowls from the Colonel and Major Ted Moorat.

Later that day.

Colonel: “Lippy lot that anti tank platoon of yours.”
Anti Tank Officer: “I have to agree, Colonel, but they are the best
trained anti tank gunners in the Far East, if not the whole Field Army.”
Colonel: “No wonder they’re so cocky if that’s what you encourage
them to believe.”

They had just achieved a first day 87% success rate, the best ever
recorded on those ranges and with borrowed training pool guns.
