Gazette Issue 30234. M.C. His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to confer the Military Cross in recognition of conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field during a raid, in which he led his platoon with the utmost dash and determination. The success of the operation was largely due to the daring reconnaissances which he had made of the enemy wire previous to the raid. He afterwards returned to No Man's Land and brought back many wounded men.
