In 1964 a platoon of us went to Mons OCS ,
Dick Hancock was Platoon Commander and Larry Parkes was Platoon Sergeant Here`s what Mons look`s like now :- I have marked the points of interest , so the Lads can get their bearings :- 1 ) Demonstation platoon (LF) barrack block 2 ) Basingstoke Canal ( remember the Mossie`s ) 3 ) Guardroom 4 ) Barrack Square ( of RSM R Brittain Coldstream G. fame ) The long white building in the centre is where the Cadet`s Spider Billets were at one time and the white building on the left is a APTC tennis centre on the playing field that we used to use . St Omer ACC catering school was at the other side of the canal . The canal towpath ,our shortcut to town, is now well overgrown . Bill Duggan |
